Did I tell you I am a huge fan of Little Golden Nook and her patterns? No? Well, I AM! Everything Sandra designs is gold. The Haven jumper is one of them. Simple and with the right yarn beautiful! Also: enter perfect summer sweater for these chilly summer nights..
Before I crocheted her A whole dot of love trui, Oma Goodness Topen de Rainfall Cardigan. The Haven Jumper is now added to my Little Golden Nook collection.
Requirements
- Haven Jumper pattern, for sale at LoveCrafts and Ravelry
- Crochet hook 4mm and 3mm
- I used 5 skeins of hand dyed yarn from Crealien Design in the colors: Vintage Roses (3), Oh Lou Lou (1) and Vanilla Vla (1)
- Needle
- Stitch markers
Elaboration
The pattern advices you to use a DK weight (like Stylecraft DK) or a fingering weight yarn combined with a mohair thread. And since I have (too) much yarn from Crealien I wanted to use that.
I followed the pattern, including the adviced crochet hook. I figured my regular will become a bit smaller, since my yarn is thinner.. so I followed the pattern for one size larger (L instead of M). And guess what? It fits me perfectly!
This Haven Jumper pattern is really easy to follow! For me this was also the first time crocheting top down. So you start at the top and work your way down. The ideal way because you can adjust the garment to your body really easy.
Hand dyed yarn – Crealien Design
I got to know the yarn of Crealien Design through the montly “Hollands Handwerkgeluk” box. And I can tell you, you fall in love immediately. The colors are soo pretty and vibrant and the yarn is so soft! Because you know.. it’s merino wool.
My yarn also had a subtle glitter. You can’t see it on the photo’s, but it definitely has a ‘gold sparkle’. Really gorgeous yarn and it crochets very nice. A skein will cost you €18,50 and you get 400mtr/425mtr, depending on if you want glitter or not. If you know this, the price ain’t so bad.. is it?
Result
And now.. the final result! I went to my old neighborhood in Eindhoven, the Netherlands: Strijp-S. The industrial vibe combined with all the graffiti it really made my jumper ‘pop’!
